US President Donald Trump said that Iran had requested the continuation of negotiations between the two countries and that Washington had agreed to resume diplomatic contacts.

According to Trump, the request came from Tehran following the recent escalation in regional tensions. He stated that the United States remains prepared to engage in dialogue, while stressing that protecting American interests and regional security remains a priority.

The planned talks are expected to focus on security issues, regional stability and Iran’s nuclear programme. No official date or location for the next round of negotiations has yet been announced.

The announcement follows weeks of heightened tensions in the Middle East. While both sides appear willing to maintain diplomatic contacts, significant differences remain over key security and political issues, and no agreement has yet been reached
