Ten people have died after a small passenger aircraft crashed in the Bahamas. Nine passengers and the pilot were on board.
The aircraft was operating a domestic flight from Nassau to San Andros when it went down in the North Andros area. Authorities initially reported one survivor, but later confirmed that the person had died from their injuries.
Following the crash, the Bahamian government temporarily suspended Flamingo Air flights as a precautionary measure.
Prime Minister Philip Davis expressed his condolences to the families of the victims. The tragedy occurred as the country marked the anniversary of its independence.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
