Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has arrived in Oman with a senior diplomatic delegation for talks focused on security and maritime navigation through the Strait of Hormuz.
Meetings in Muscat are expected to address conditions for the safe passage of commercial vessels through the strategic waterway and possible measures to reduce regional tensions.
Iran and Oman have already been holding discussions on the future management of navigation in the strait and maritime services connected with vessel traffic. Wider coordination with neighbouring countries is also part of the diplomatic process.
The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world’s most important routes for oil and natural gas supplies. Recent conflicts and incidents involving ships in the area have increased concerns over international trade and global energy markets.
Oman continues to play an active diplomatic role in efforts to prevent further escalation. The talks come as international pressure remains high to ensure safe and uninterrupted maritime traffic through the strait.
