The Toronto Raptors will permanently retire Kyle Lowry’s No. 7 jersey, honouring one of the most important players in franchise history. The ceremony will take place on January 10, 2027, following Toronto’s home game against the Philadelphia 76ers at Scotiabank Arena. Lowry will become only the second Raptors player to have his number raised to the rafters, joining Vince Carter and his No. 15. The choice of opponent carries extra significance: Lowry was born in Philadelphia, played college basketball at Villanova and finished his NBA career with the 76ers.
The 40-year-old guard officially retired in July 2026 after signing a ceremonial one-day contract with Toronto, allowing him to end his 20-season NBA career as a Raptor. During nine seasons with the franchise from 2012 to 2021, Lowry earned six All-Star selections and played a central role in Toronto’s first and so far only NBA championship in 2019. He scored 10,540 points in 601 regular-season games for the Raptors and ranks among the franchise leaders in assists, steals and three-pointers.
