An unusual weather change has brought snowfall to Romania’s Bucegi Mountains in the middle of summer, allowing winter sports enthusiasts to enjoy snowboarding despite the July calendar.
Temperatures in the mountain area dropped to around 1°C following a period of hot weather, creating conditions rarely seen during the summer season. Snow accumulated on the higher peaks, attracting visitors eager to experience winter-like conditions.
Elsewhere in Romania, severe weather caused significant disruption. Strong storms hit Prahova County, including the popular mountain resort of Sinaia, where powerful winds damaged buildings, uprooted trees and affected local infrastructure. Hail was also reported in several regions.
