Sony continues to develop its mid-range Xperia family with the Xperia 10 VII, combining relatively compact dimensions with an OLED display, 5G connectivity and a large battery. The smartphone measures 153 × 72 × 8.3 mm and weighs just 168 grams, making it relatively light compared with many modern smartphones. Its display is a 6.1-inch OLED panel with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio and FHD+ resolution of 1080 × 2340 pixels. One of the most important upgrades is the 120Hz refresh rate, accompanied by 120Hz touch scanning, 100% DCI-P3 coverage and Sony’s Triluminos display technology for mobile devices. The front is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2. Xperia 10 VII also carries IP6X dust protection and IPX5/IPX8 water resistance. At the heart of the phone is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 mobile platform, paired with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of UFS internal storage. An increasingly unusual feature is the microSDXC slot, which supports cards with capacities of up to 2TB. The smartphone supports nanoSIM and eSIM with Dual SIM capability. It originally ships with Android 15, while Sony promises four major operating-system upgrades and six years of security updates.
The main camera uses a 50MP Exmor RS sensor measuring 1/1.56 inches, with a 24mm-equivalent focal length and f/1.9 aperture. It is joined by a 13MP ultra-wide camera offering a 16mm-equivalent focal length, 123-degree field of view and f/2.4 aperture. The primary camera features optical image stabilisation, while video combines OIS and EIS through Sony’s Optical SteadyShot system. Other photography features include HDR, night shooting, bokeh, bursts at up to 10 frames per second and up to 6x hybrid zoom. The front-facing camera has an 8MP sensor with an f/2.0 aperture and 26mm-equivalent focal length. Power comes from a 5,000mAh battery supporting USB Power Delivery fast charging, Xperia Adaptive Charging, Battery Care and STAMINA Mode. Sony also retains several features that have disappeared from many modern smartphones, including a 3.5mm headphone jack and expandable storage. Audio capabilities include front stereo speakers, Hi-Resolution Audio, LDAC, DSEE Ultimate, 360 Reality Audio and Qualcomm aptX Adaptive. Connectivity includes 5G, Wi-Fi 6E across 2.4, 5 and 6GHz bands, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, USB-C and support for GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, BeiDou and QZSS positioning systems. Xperia 10 VII is not designed to challenge expensive flagship smartphones on raw performance. Instead, Sony is offering a relatively compact and lightweight device combining a 120Hz OLED display, large 5,000mAh battery, water and dust resistance, expandable storage and a traditional 3.5mm headphone jack – a collection of features that is becoming increasingly difficult to find in a single modern smartphone.
