Robots are increasingly being offered through subscription and rental services rather than traditional sales, allowing businesses and organisations to access advanced technology without making large upfront investments. The model, known as Robotics-as-a-Service (RaaS), is rapidly gaining popularity across multiple industries.

In hospitals across the United States, robots such as Moxi are already transporting medicines, medical supplies and equipment between departments. Healthcare workers often treat the machines as part of the team, while the manufacturer provides ongoing maintenance, software updates and remote technical support.

Companies are now renting robots for a wide variety of tasks, from serving guests at hotels and events to working in factories, warehouses and agriculture. Early humanoid robots are also becoming available, capable of greeting visitors, serving customers, dancing or performing other programmed activities.

Industry experts say one of the biggest advantages of the subscription model is that customers can always upgrade to the latest generation of robots. Because robotics technology is advancing so quickly, purchasing an expensive machine outright may become less cost-effective after only a few years.

Analysts expect the global robot rental market to continue expanding as automation becomes more affordable. Monthly subscriptions are likely to make advanced robotics accessible to many businesses and households that previously could not justify the cost of ownership.
